POPLAR POINT:
A place for everyone
Poplar Point is a place for everyone; for people of different ethnicities and animals of varying species. This proposal integrates nature to the built environment by connecting the extensive existing ecological systems to the site, while also focusing on existing community issues, such as low food access and high unemployment.
The central idea behind this proposal is to extend the heritage trail to the site, which connects the Fredrick Douglass house to his newly proposed memorial. This access will become essential for high density development. It connects people to the riverfront and the community to the food. It is promoting the idea of connecting urban farms in alignment with recreation and affordable housing.
