RESILIENT LANDSCAPE, RESILIENT POPULATION
The proposed design expands the definition of what a resilient landscape is by implying that educational institutions must be part of the system. The school-park ecology design proposal creates a new type of land use that combines public, institutional and open space land use into one, accommodating the existing wetland, a future community college and developments at Poplar Point. A Barry-Farm scaled affordable housing neighborhood, a highway underpass bike center and extended green spaces actualize a seamless connection between the two sides of the Anacostia Freeway.
